BRIEF 15: AN EXHIBITION OF PARIS//TEST PRINT/MOCK UP//OUGD603

Paris booklet mock up:
Lisa and I printed a mock up of our booklet to see how it would work, this was important for the binding sake of the project as the booklet is small but has a large number of pages.  Once we have printed out the design on our preferred stock we would need to clamp it on either side to ensure it is held down long enough for  the glue then to stick to the binding.  It was also important to print a mock up in order to check whether the reversal french/english concept worked and that everything was lined up in terms of printing.
Preparing for screen print:
Another reason why it was essential to print a mock up version is because we want to screen print the cover of the publication.  We thought the booklet would benefit from having a black cover with white type which you obviously can't print on a standard digital printer.  When screen printing we discussed also trying out foiling and seeing whether that could look quite nice with the serif typeface.  Once we had printed a mock up we printed a slightly larger front cover and wrapped it around the spine.  We needed to work this out in order to place the cover text centrally without the margin effecting the print.  Once we had measured how thick the magian would be I amended the file digitally ready for exposing the screen.
