BRIEF 14: DIALOGUE//RESEARCH//OUGD603

dialogue research: typography
In my tutorial with Brian I discussed my ideas about mapping conversations and recording communication but that I was struggling with a way to try and display this when considering the brief requirements about limitations with colour and image.  If the brief had no restrictions I would of liked to of used various cut ups of different typefaces to form the recorded conversations, using layers and collage techniques.  Brian suggested I look at Masin's work which was exactly the type of thing I had been looking for and definitely led to new ideas.  Taking influence from Massin I wanted to try and siplay my conversations in a similar way, creating the effect digitally.
The following two examples I think would work really well for recording the conversations, certain fonts and sizes could represent certain tones and volume levels the conversations and possible halftone photographs of people.  One of the places I want to record conversations was the Underground as this is somewhere where I feel I could get a lot of material.  There would also be a nice contrast between hearing personal conversations between people and voice overs on the tube.
Large scale type going across the page would work well for this, this could be displayed either on the volume of certain conversations or the most interesting snippets of dialogue.
