BRIEF 13: THE COLLECTED WRITINGS OF ROSY LEE//DEVELOPMENT//OUGD603

development//photography.
Cropping selected images ready for scanning:
After collecting some images that I thought would be interesting to show in some way I then scanned them.  Unfortunately some images worked better than others, it definitely depends on the lighting of the image, which effects how much of the photograph you can make out when the material from the teabag is layered over it.
I need to think of a new way of going about this as some of the images are not even worth using as you can't make out enough for it to be an interesting image.  I'm really pleased with how some of them scanned but there isn't enough successful ones to take this approach anymore.
example of one that I thought worked well:
example of one that needs editing:
Using this approach is quite limiting because it seems to be the photographs that are quite vibrant and have bright lighting, which just restricts the freedom with photography.  However not enough to change the idea, I just think I need to try and edit in a way that enhances the image more or be more selective over which images I am going to use.
layout and type:
This is something that I feel could really contribute to the overall style and feel of the publication.  I want something quite simple but not too plain, the main aspect of the book should be the images, the text should compliment the image, considerations such as serif or san serif or a combination of both?  In terms of image size, most of them will be kept to the measurements of teabags as stretching some of the scanned photographs will allow for the quality to drop.
