As I am interested in editorial and publication design I wanted to out my manifesto into a small publication. I think this format could work really well as a small booklet representing me as an individual but also as a designer, especially the format and way in which it is designed. I want to use a french fold technique, I think this could work as the manifesto will only be 10-12 pages so this technique will allow for the book to be more substantial. Also with the inside of the folded sheets I would like to design bits of work and collage that represent me as a designer, you wouldn't be able to see these images clearly because of the binding but I think it would be a nice touch.
french fold technique:
Individual sheets of paper folded in half and bound together at the open—rather than the creased—edge are called French folds. Sheets folded this way can either be glued together or bound with a coil, posts, or stitches. This method is useful if you want to avoid double-sided printing.
I think this design could work really well for a manifesto, obviously there wouldn't be as much content but this is the kind of thing I want to produce on a smaller scale. The basic idea of the manifesto is to have 10/12 points I believe in, both in terms of design and life, when these points have been made in my own words I will use a quote by someone I admire to back it up.
The inside of the French folds should either reflect the point just made in the manifesto or just generally reflect what I like, the style of design I like and make and the type of individual I am in terms of likes and beliefs.
