photography wall display
Throughout this project I have looked into the idea of an unsung hero and heroine, the meaning behind it and how best to try and display it. I used an old family member that I feel was an unsung hero and suffered some hardship. I have tried to use her as an example to depict this idea of an unsung hero and heroine. I have used old letters, which I felt would be more effective as I could then quote her on specific areas and this would have a more personal element of her included. I have created postcards and a story that shows the individual. Amongst the specific unsung heroine there is a display of people that could also be considered unsung heroes. The idea of the wall display is to display unsung heroes and heroines, however I also looked into the idea of a memory and how a person can be forgotten, this is something I want to look at in more detail in the second part of the brief.
The display shows a mix of printed quotes, photographs, letters and old documents.
To signify memory and how memories can fade or be forgotten I took original photos and distorted them with a scanner to show the distorted and changed image, the idea is to show the memory has faded and therefore cannot fully recall the image in its clearest form. As an idea I decided to hang a diary in front of the wall display to see whether it would create a nice image.
A problem I seemed to have throughout photographing the display was the light glare that reflected from the gloss stock of the photographs. Because of lack of lighting equipment this made it impossible to get a shot of the display face on with all the images included in one photograph.
