After doing a test run on the slightly damaged screen and experimenting slightly with colour and mixing we decided we wanted our outcomes to look similar to this as opposed to two standard colours, one for image and one for text. This was the first time I had properly experimented with screen printing and colour and iI found this to be the most successful outcome visually I have had yet.
Using these experimental techniques with colour allowed us to get a marbling effect in some of the prints. We learnt that the earlier prints wit fresh paint and before the screen had been used several times were the best in terms of results, more colourful, image more defined and patterns/paint more interesting.
We also experimented with the type, originally we just had the type placed over the image centrally, but with screen printing you can have several goes at getting different compositions in the image and different styles by placing text different, over laying text, changing colour etc. Overall I think this was really successful and it was the kind of result I was hoping to get from it, especially for doing this type of experimental printing for the first time. I also think even though the colour scheme changed from the initial plan (to use the colours from the shows logo) I still think these colours capture the feel and essence of the show.
